Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) said on Friday that it expects the market for sport utility vehicles (SUV) in South Korea to expand by 21% this year, aiming to sell approximately 10,000 vehicles, Yonhap reported. The news comes after the car maker decided in January 2018 to halt SUV sales in the country as part of the changes it introduced to its portfolio.

"In 2019, we look forward to two-digit growth as we have a series of new car launches lined up and also getting in closer contact with the customers with strengthened marketing strategies," FCA Chief Executive Officer Pablo Rosso stated. The auto industry giant also revealed plans to release a Cherokee model powered by diesel fuel, a two-door Wrangler short body and to upgrade its Renegade model.

Fiat Chrysler's South Korea product lineup includes the Grand Cherokee, the Cherokee, the Wrangler, the Compass and the Renegade.
