Tesla starts Model 3 delivery in China early

Friday, 22. February 2019 07:42

Tesla will begin delivery of its Model 3 cars in China at least one week earlier than expected, various media reported on Friday.

Previous reports had stated that the company would start delivering the vehicles in March. However, Elon Musk's company said at an event in Beijing on Friday that it was beginning delivery over a week in advance. A Chinese website also reported that same day that a ship with more than 1,500 Model 3 cars had docked in Shanghai.

Tesla started construction of its Shanghai Gigafactory in January. It is due to be completed by the summer and should start production by the end of 2019. The company also had to recall over 14,000 S Electric Cars in the country over a fault in their Takata airbags earlier this year.
