Deutsche Lufthansa AG said on Monday it approved the purchase of up to 16 aircraft at list prices of €2.1 billion in total. The supervisory board decided as many as twelve short- and medium-haul planes would be bought from Airbus SE, where six A320neo (new engine option) units were turned to fixed orders for 2022. Depending on availability, the upper limit of six A320ceo (current engine option) aircraft is included in the plan for this year as the former model's deliveries are late, the statement said.

Boeing Co. was picked for two 777-300ER long-haul units for Swiss International Air Lines AG and shipment is set for early 2020. Another two 777Fs will be ordered for Lufthansa Cargo to replace MD11s, the German flagship airline revealed.
