Didi partners with Continental on connected vehicles

Supplier of car parts and systems Continental AG announced on Tuesday it has entered a strategic partnership with Chinese ride-hailing firm Didi Chuxing which will focus on developing intelligent and connected, as well as electric vehicles, for Didi's services.

"The parties will explore cooperation mainly in the areas of intelligent & connected vehicles (ICV) and customized new energy vehicles," Didi said in a statement. According to the agreement, Continental will provide intelligent head units for the shared cars, while Didi will offer its expertise in mobility and artificial intelligence.

"Our cooperation is set to accelerate the integration of intelligent mobility technology into the leading transportation platform in China," Continental China's Chief Executive Enno Tang stated.

Continental shares fell 0.90% at 11:22 am CET.
