Lufthansa revenue down 0.4% to €9.3B in Q2

Lufthansa AG reported on Tuesday its revenue in the second quarter amounted to €9.3 billion, increasing 0.4% year-on-year but missing analysts' expectations. Traffic revenue declined 1.5% from the second quarter of 2017 to €7.4 billion in the same period this year. Earnings per share fell 1.3% to €1.56 in the three-month period, while net profit dipped 0.8% from the second quarter of 2017 and stood at €734 million. Meanwhile, EBIT was down 3.2% to €983 million and adjusted EBIT dropped 3.4% to €982 million during the April to June period.

For the first half of 2018, Lufthansa's revenue dipped 0.1% to €16.9 billion, while EPS were up 0.7% compared to the first half of 2017 and stood at €1.44. Net profit in the six-month period rose 0.7% to €677 million.

"The Lufthansa Group can look back on a successful first halfyear of 2018, with earnings only marginally below the record result of the previous year. Passenger numbers, the number of flights and the passenger load factor all hit new highs," the German airline said in its earnings report.
