BMW, Daimler, VW, suppliers plan self-driving alliance

BMW, Daimler, Volkswagen, as well as suppliers Continental and Bosch are planning to form an alliance focusing on autonomous car technology, with a goal to develop a self-driving system, Manager Magazine reported on Wednesday, with out citing sources.

According to the report, the future alliance will be open for other tech companies and manufacturers. High-ranking officers from the carmakers and other firms are reportedly going to decide on the association in March.

Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess and BMW Development Board member Klaus Frohlich are said to be prime movers of the process.
