Exec from Allianz joins Lloyds of London as CFO

Burkhard Keese (pictured) will succeed John Parry on 1 April as the chief financial officer of Lloyd's of London, pending a green light from the United Kingdom's Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority. The British firm, which enables risk pricing and underwriting, published the announcement on Monday after approval from the Council of Lloyd's. The next CFO spent the last 14 years at giant insurer Allianz SE, where he was last the finance chief of Allianz Deutschland AG, the largest company in the sector in Germany, overseeing €300 billion.

"He is an accomplished chief financial officer with leadership experience across financial, capital and investment management as well as proven expertise in business transformation... We are working with all our stakeholders to significantly improve near term profitability and to ensure Lloyd’s can remain at the forefront of commercial, corporate and specialty insurance and reinsurance for years to come," said John Neal, the insurance marketplace operator's chief executive.

Keese will be responsible for financial reporting, capital setting and capital adequacy, tax, treasury and investment management.
