US markets open with gains on trade hopes

Wall Street opened with gains on Friday after data from the United States Federal Reserve showed an increase in US industrial production of 0.1% in February. Meanwhile, investors continued to pay attention to trade talks between the US and China. State Secretary Mike Pompeo announced that a meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, where the new trade deal would be signed, will not take place before mid-April.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index was up by 0.17% at the start, with Intel rising 1.75%, outperforming others. The Nasdaq added 0.14%, as Broadcom soared 9.77% after reporting earnings results. The S&P increased by 0.11% at the opening bell.

The euro advanced 0.12% against the dollar at 9:33 am ET, going for $1.13176.
