Wall Street opens higher ahead of Fed meeting

Markets in the United States opened in the green on Tuesday ahead of the Federal Reserve's two-day monetary policy meeting. The Fed is set to announce its interest rate decision on Wednesday and is expected to hold rates. On the data front, market watchers awaited factory orders figures due for release shortly after the start of the trading session.

The Dow Jones added 0.36% at 9:30 am ET. Financials led the gains as Goldman Sachs climbed 1.14% at 9:31 am ET and JP Morgan increased 0.85% at the same time.

The Nasdaq 100 rose 0.43% at 9:30 am ET with Nvidia, jumping 3.23% at 9:32 am ET, as the best performer on the index.

The S&P 500 was up 0.38% at 9:30 am ET. Besides Nvidia, Advanced Micros Devices contributed most to the gains as its stock surged 3.83% at 9:47 am ET.

The euro gained 0.12% against the dollar to sell for 1.1351 at 9:33 am ET.
