Asian markets mostly lower amid trade talks speculations

Markets across the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly lower on Wednesday as investors digested signals regarding progress in US-China trade talks. Earlier media reports stipulated that Beijing and Washington were entering the final stages of negotiations, as state visits of high level officials from both sides are expected transpire next week.

The Japanese Nikkei 225 ended the session 0.20% higher, while the South Korean Kospi Composite was flat. China's Shanghai Composite was virtually flat at 7:52 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite decreased 0.43% at the same time. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 0.32% at 7:53 am CET. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 went down 0.32%.

The US dollar gained 0.13% against the Japanese yen to change hands for 111.55 at 7:55 am CET.
