United States Air Force announced it has awarded Boeing Co. a $999 million contract for the replacement of the wings on A-10 aircraft. The aerospace giant will be responsible for managing the production of a maximum of 112 wing sets and spare kits.

At the same time, the Pentagon said that it will terminate the current Boeing contract to develop a Redesigned Kill Vehicle (RKV) over technical problems after spending $1.2 billion on the project.

Raytheon Co. is the actual developer of the RKV, a countermeasure to long-range ballistic missiles, and serves as a sub-contractor to Boeing.
