The world's largest manufacturer of photolithography systems for the semiconductor industry, Dutch ASML Holding, postponed its delivery to China's largest tech companies, sources told Nikkei Asian Review on Wednesday. The move came with the goal of breaking the supply chain for Chinese businesses amid a trade war between the US and China.

According to the report, the Chinese largest computer chip-maker Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMIC) placed an order in April 2018, while the shipment was scheduled for the end of 2019 amid the trade tensions between the world's two biggest economies.

ASML Holding's stocks traded with losses in premarket on Wednesday, slipping nearly 2%.
