Dow closes over 1,800 pts in red as Boeing plunges

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped on Thursday at the close as the Boeing Company's stock plummetted after it informed its supplier, Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc. yesterday to stop working on the 737 MAX aircraft. Also, the United States Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin stated on Thursday that the government is "keeping a close watch" on China to make sure Beijing's obligations under the trade deal are being met.

The Dow declined 6.90% at the close with Boeing Co falling by 16.42%. The Nasdaq went down by 5.01% as United Airlines Holdings dropped 16.11%. The S&P 500 went down by 5.89% to end the session. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd was the worst performer, losing 16.46%.

The euro lost 0.65% against the dollar to sell for $1.12992 at 4:01 pm ET.
