Deutsche Lufthansa AG will immediately receive a €3 billion loan as a part of the German government's €9 billion rescue plan for the airline, Der Spiegel reported on Friday.

The state-owned development bank KfW will allocate the funds for the loan after striking an agreement with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the report also said.

The rescue package has been approved by the European Commission and the company's shareholders yesterday.
