Boeing announced on Thursday it partnered with General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) and Aerojet Rocketdyne in an effort to secure a contract to build the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) for the United States Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

"The Boeing-led team will deliver critical technology to enhance our homeland missile defense," Boeing's Missile and Weapon Systems vice president and general manager, Norm Tew, stated

Boeing noted that the three companies submitted an NGI bid in August, stressing their solution would "improve performance and enhance the nation’s ability to defend against future threats." The decision on the contract award is expected to be made by the end of the year.
