Armenia's government introduced martial law and announced a general military mobilization in the country on Sunday, following the clashes with Azerbaijan's forces in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, a territory under dispute between the two countries.

Each side has accused the other of initiating the latest conflict and both reported that there have been casualties. Yerevan stated that Baku's forces are bombing settlements and the Nagorno-Karabakh's capital, Stepanakert, as well as the city of Vardenis on the territory of Armenia. Meanwhile, Armenian shelling resulted in injuries to six civilians, Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan said.

Nagorno-Karabakh, dominated by a 99.7% Armenian ethnic majority, but internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, has been the point of contention between the two sides since the war that lasted from 1988 to 1994.
