The European Union won the right to impose approximately $4 billion in tariffs on the goods coming in from the United States after the World Trade Organization ruled on Tuesday that the subsidies granted by Washington to Boeing Co. were illegal.

According to the ruling, Brussels may place levies on American airplanes, which include Boeing aircraft, as well as agricultural products and other goods.

However, it is expected that the bloc will wait for the results of the US presidential elections before going ahead with any of the tariffs.
