The United States wants to "intensify" the negotiations with the European Union after the World Trade Organization (WTO) granted the bloc the right to impose approximately $4 billion in tariffs on the goods from the US, Agence France Presse reported on Tuesday, citing trade official.

Earlier during the day, European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis took to Twitter to express the EU's determination to reach a "negotiated settlement" with Washington over the matter.

WTO ruled that the subsidies granted by the US to Boeing Co. were illegal, and allowed Brussels to place levies on American aircraft, agricultural products, and other produce.
