Pound highest in 3 weeks on Brexit hopes

The British currency extended gains on Friday after President of the European Council Donald Tusk's stated that "promising signs" could be seen, while referring to positive conclusion of yesterday's talks between Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and Ireland, Boris Johnson and Leo Varadkar. However, Tusk also said that Johnson has to extend a Brexit proposal today if the UK PM wants a deal to happen.

Sterling rose 0.54% compared to the dollar, selling for 1.25051 at 11:51 CET. The euro decreased by 0.39% against the pound, going for 0.88100 at 11:53 CET. The British currency jumped 0.69% in comparison to yen, buying 135.21450 at 11:55 CET.
