Wall Street closes mixed ahead of impeachment vote

Markets in the United States closed mixed on Wednesda as investors focused on the impeachment proceedings against US President Donald Trump in the House of Representatives. The Democratic-led Congress chamber is currently debating the matter and is expected to vote in favor of impeaching the president on two counts later in the day.

The Dow Jones lost 0.10% with Walmart, down 1.17%, leading the losses. The S&P 500 was down 0.04% as FedEx plunged 10.03% on worse-than-expected second-quarter results.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 added 0.06% to close in the green for the sixth session in a row. The best performer was Wynn Resorts, whose shares climbed 3.9%.

The euro and the pound both traded flat against the dollar to go for 1.11169 and 1.30861, respectively, at 4:03 pm ET.
