US markets open in green as vaccination kicks off

Shares on Wall Street traded higher at the opening bell on Monday with investors' confidence over curbing the spreading of COVID-19 increasing after the United States rolled out Pfizer's vaccine against the virus. Previously, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted the emergency use authorization for the vaccine.

Meanwhile, the Republicans and Democrats are still putting efforts to reach a deal on the country's next stimulus bill as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi underscored the state and local aid is crucial for the talks.

The Dow gained 0.60% or over 170 index points at the opening bell as Boeing strengthened over 2% a minute later. The S&P 500 rose 0.58% with Skyworks Solutions climbing more than 6% at 9:46 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 went up by 0.53% concurrently. led by Alexion Pharmaceuticals' surge of nearly 30%. The euro added 0.35% to go for $1.21596 at 9:28 am ET.
