Chelsea names Thomas Tuchel new manager

Chelsea FC announced on Tuesday it appointed German coach Thomas Tuchel (pictured) as the team's new manager, signing an 18-month contract with the club to replace Frank Lampard who was fired on Monday.

"I cannot wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football. I am grateful to be part of the Chelsea family. We all have the greatest respect for Frank Lampard's work and the legacy he created at Chelsea," Tuchel said in a statement.

The German coach, who previously managed Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in France and Borussia Dortmund in Germany, became the 11th full-time manager of Chelsea since the beginning of the Roman Abramovich era.
