Wall Street closes higher amid stimulus talks

Shares on the United States major stock markets closed with gains on Monday as investors remained hopeful that the COVID-19 relief package, which White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki forecasted as "both big and [with] bipartisan" support. Market volatility remained in the spotlight as public officials expressed concerns and promised to address the issue on a "congressional level."

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.76% at the end of the session, having Microsoft Corp surge 3.32%. The Nasdaq 100 rose 2.50% led by Skyworks Solutions that soared 9.77%, while S&P 500 grew 1.60% as International Flavors and Fragrances Inc. jumped 15.81%.

The euro remained flat against the dollar, changing hands for 1.20572 at 4:04 pm ET.
