F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG CEO Christoph Franz (pictured) said on Tuesday he hopes "it would be possible" for the company to build a pill that would successfully prevent COVID-19 by the end of 2021.

The Swiss biopharmaceutical firm is determined to realize a "dream" and "treat the disease with a pill and not just with infusions fight," Franz told TeleZuri, adding the company could unveil an actual release date in autumn.

Results of the initial clinical trial for the pill created by Roche and Atea Pharmaceuticals are likely to be announced in the next few weeks, according to him.
