JD.com posts Q4 revenue at $34.4B, up 31% YoY

JD.com Inc. said on Thursday that its net revenue amounted to 224.3 billion yuan ($34.4 billion) in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2020, rising 31.4% compared to the same trimester last year. Net income attributable to ordinary shareholders stood at 24.3 billion yuan ($3.7 billion), skyrocketing 575% on an annual basis. The e-commerce firm's diluted net earnings per share surged 522% year-over-year to 15.18 yuan ($2.33) in the same quarter.

For the full year, the Beijing-based company reported net revenues at 745.8 billion yuan ($114.3 billion), marking a growth of 29.3% compared to 2019, while its net income soared 305% to 49.4 billion yuan ($7.6 billion) in 2020, translating to diluted earnings per share of 31.68 yuan ($4.86). The number of annual active customer accounts rose 30.3% year-on-year to 471.9 million in 2020.

"JD saw accelerated revenue and user growth during the fourth quarter driven by our long-term operating philosophy and customer-centric value proposition despite the ongoing market challenges. With a strong momentum going into 2021 and with our recently optimized organizational structure, JD will continue to invest in innovative, high potential businesses to drive long-term sustainable growth," JD.com CEO Richard Liu said in a statement.

The company's shares jumped 7.80% at 5:42 am ET after the announcement.
