FDA: Roche's COVID tests can produce false positive results

Friday, 12. March 2021 18:00

The United States Food and Drug Administration revealed on Friday that COVID-19 tests developed by Roche Molecular Systems could return false-positive results due to two detected issues.

In response to this possibility, the FDA informed that healthcare providers should closely monitor test results, undertake multiple tests if having concerns regarding its credibility, or avoid Roche's Cobas Liat System in total.

The FDA concluded its working with Roche to resolve the latest issues related to the test which was approved in the United States last September for testing both the COVID-19 and influenza A and B viruses.
