US mostly lower in premarket on virus worries

Equities in the United States traded mostly lower in the premarket on Monday amid the ongoing concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. The country keeps seeing uneven rises in daily infections, with the total count approaching 30 million. Miami Beach, Florida, declared a 72-hour state of emergency to curb the spread of the virus. Meanwhile, Qualcomm Inc. CEO Steve Mollenkopf noted an improvement in global companies' supply of chips after shortages they had faced due to the pandemic.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 0.24% at 4:35 am ET, while the S&P 500 went down by 0.06%. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.51%.

The euro lost 0.14% against the dollar to sell for $1.18878 at 4:25 am ET.
