US closes mostly lower after SEC stock review announcement

Major stock markets in the United States closed mostly lower on Wednesday after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stated it is evaluating potential changes to how stocks are priced and traded. Earlier, President Joe Biden revoked his predecessor Donald Trump's ban on TikTok and introduced thorough reviews of foreign-made applications instead.

Meanwhile, the self-proclaimed founder of bitcoin, Craig Wright, declared the blockchain community is planning to "destroy" Silicon Valley companies, including Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.43% lower as Caterpillar Inc. went down by 2.29%. The S&P 500 dropped by 0.15%, with Campbell Soup Co. sinking by 6.51%. The Nasdaq 100 stood flat. The euro also traded in the flat territory against the dollar, selling for $1.21770 at 3:57 am ET.
