Taiwan hails first shipment of virus vaccines from US

Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu remarked the region and the United States will keep using their "rock solid" relations to "keep cooperating closely in combating COVID-19" as the first batch of vaccines sent from the North American country is about to reach Taipeh.

Meanwhile, Republic of China President Tsai Ing-wen thanked Washington for "this moving gesture of friendship. These vaccines will go a long way toward keeping Taiwan safe & healthy."

Taiwan is expected to receive 2.5 million doses of Moderna Inc.'s vaccine against the disease later in the day.
