Shares on Wall Street closed mostly higher on Friday with the Dow Jones gaining over 200 points and the S&P 500 reaching a new record closing high.

Bank shares were the session's strongest performers, pushing higher after the Federal Reserve said that US banks could withstand a "severe global recession" based on the results of its annual stress test.

The Dow closed 237 points in the green as Nike surged over 15% on its latest earnings report. The S&P 500 rose 0.33% to 4,280.77 points and posted its best week since February amid optimism surrounding the economy's recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. Wells Fargo, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs all closed higher on the Fed's stress test. The Nasdaq 100 declined 0.14% with Synopsys and Broadcom were among the weakest performers.
