Saudi Arabia is funding a digital news platform in the United States, CNBC reported on Thursday. The outlet will have a studio in Washington, DC and will be supported by a subsidiary of the Saudi Technology Development and Investment Company, according to documents filed with the US Department of Justice.

The report claims journalists linked to the platform "have past experience at Fox News, Al Jazeera, NBC and Sirius XM satellite radio." It is currently not known when the project will be launched or how exactly it will work, as Saudi Arabia seeks to expand its lobbying efforts in the US.
