Wall Street opens lower ahead of Big Tech earnings

Shares on Wall Street dipped at the start of the session on Tuesday as investors geared up for quarterly results from the largest American technology companies. Big Tech companies Apple, Microsoft and Google parent Alphabet were all set to report their earnings after the closing bell, along with Visa, Starbucks and Mondelez.

Meanwhile, traders digested more economic data, including new figures from the booming US housing market. According to the latest S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller report, home prices continued to break records in May.

The Dow Jones was down 0.51% in the first minute of trading with 3M among the biggest losers. The S&P 500 fell 0.37% as UPS plunged over 6%. At the same time, the Nasdaq 100 declined 0.19%; NetEase and Intel led the losses. The euro rose 0.11% against the dollar at 9:35 am ET, buying 1.18149.
