High-ranking North Korean government official Kim Yo-jong (pictured center) warned on Sunday that joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States may damage the future of inter-Korean relations.

Conducting the drills would "seriously" undermine efforts by respective governments of both Koreas to rebuild mutual trust, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister also noted, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

She also underlined that the restoration of the communication liaison lines should not be viewed as a hint that a summit between the two Koreas is near.
