UK, US accuse Iran of attacking Israeli tanker

United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab (pictured right) accused Iran of carrying out an "unlawful and callous" assault on an Israeli-managed tanker that left a British and a Romanian national dead. "UK assessments have concluded that it is highly likely that Iran attacked the MV MERCER STREET in international waters off Oman on 29 July using one or more Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)," he alleged in a press release published on Sunday.

"Upon review of the available information, we are confident that Iran conducted this attack," United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken (pictured left) claimed in a separate statement.

Earlier in the day, Israel's Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also asserted that there is "intelligence evidence" that shows that Tehran was behind the attack. Iran has denied any involvement in the incident.
