US closes mostly lower after turbulent intraday session

Major stock markets in the United States traded mostly lower at the close on Tuesday following a volatile session amid the uncertainty caused by the potential bankruptcy of Chinese real estate developer Evergrande Group. Meanwhile, the White House urged the Republican Party to start perceiving raising the debt ceiling as a bipartisan matter.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.14% lower as The Walt Disney Company declined by 4.17%. The S&P 500 lost 0.08%, with Las Vegas Sands Corporation sinking by 5.57%. On the other hand, the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.10% as Seagen Inc. rose by 3.74%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar at 3:55 pm ET, going for $1.17309.
