Wall Street closes mostly lower as tech shares fall

Major equities in the United States closed mostly lower on Monday as investors reacted to the rise of the 10-year Treasury yields to nearly a three-year high. Being sensitive to the increase tech shares dropped, while fuel and energy stocks jumped. Manufactured durable goods went up in orders in the US by 1.8%, exceeding analyst expectations.

Coronavirus cases in the US continued to decrease on a weekly basis as eligible Americans gear up to get their booster shots. President Joe Biden received his third dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Fed's Lael Brainard admitted that the Delta variant has been more disruptive to the economic recovery than anticipated.

The Dow gained 0.21% with Dow Inc jumping 5.07%, while the S&P 500 lost 0.28% as Garmin sank by 5.80%. The Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.81% led by MercadoLibre dropping 5.43%. The euro decreased by 0.20% against the dollar exchanging hands for $1.16978 at 4:02 ET.
