US opens higher as Dow surges nearly 400 points

Stock markets in the United States opened with major gains on Thursday after the latest report revealed that the initial jobless claims dropped to 326,000 from 364,000. Additionally, job cuts dropped 85% per annum in September, while the western block focused on relationships with Russia and China.

The Dow Jones soared 1.13% or 388 points at the opening bell, led by Goldman Sachs which rose 2%. The Nasdaq 100 jumped by 1.25% led by Pinduoduo which surged by 5.97%. The S&P 500 rose by 1.15% with eBay gaining 3.96%. All three indices extended gains following the start of the session.

The euro stood flat against the dollar to trade for 1.15522 at 9:29 am ET.
