Normal talks with NATO impossible right now - Russia

Having normal diplomatic cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is impossible at the moment due to the alliance's hostile attitude towards Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko (pictured) said on Friday.

He also commented on what he described as NATO's growing presence near Russia's borders, stating that such activities create "new military realities" that can quickly "slide into Cold War schemes." Such actions directly influence the group's relations with Moscow, Grushko underlined. He added Russia expects one of NATO's members will appoint its ambassador to act as the organization's representative in Moscow in the absence of an official one.

Grushko's remarks come after NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the group is seeking to restart its relations with Russia despite the Moscow closed its official mission to it.
