Novartis: Q3 net sales up 5% to $13 billion

Novartis announced on Tuesday that its net sales for the third quarter of 2021 increased 5% when compared to the same period last year to stand at $13 billion.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) surged 44% year on year to $1.23, while net income jumped 43% to $2.75 billion. At the same time, both core EPS and core net income saw yearly gains of 11% and 9% respectively to climb to $1.71 and $3.83 billion in the three-month period. Lastly, operating income rose 32% to $3.23 billion, while core operating was 9% up to $4.47 billion.

Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan commented on the results: "We are also commencing a strategic review of Sandoz to maximize shareholder value. We remain confident in the strength of our pipeline and launch brands to fuel the growth of our company in the mid to longer-term."
