Mercedes-Benz unveiled on Monday a new prototype electric vehicle named VISION EQXX, saying it will have an outstanding range of as much as 1,000 kilometers per charge. "The Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX is how we imagine the future of electric cars," Chief Executive Ola Kaellenius insisted, explaining the car will consume less than 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per 100 km, significantly less compared to Tesla's Model S 60 which consumes 18.1 kWh. The announcement comes as part of Daimler's plans to take a firm position in the electric vehicle market by investing more than €40 billion within the end of the decade. However, Daimler hasn't revealed when VISION EQXX will become available for customers, but said a test drive should take place in the first half of 2022. |
