Monday, 31. January 2022 22:00

United States stock exchanges closed the Monday session with strong gains following news from the corporate world and vaccine updates from Moderna and Novavax. Boeing signed a $20 billion deal with Qatar Airways, ExxonMobil announced business restructuring, and Sony said it will make a $3.6 billion acquisition. Elsewhere, Fed officials discussed future monetary policy moves, presumably allaying some market concerns.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index closed with a 1.17% or a 406-point gain primarily led by Boeing and its 5.07% jump. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 3.29% at the close, pulled up by Pinduoduo's 12.80% surge. The S&P 500 was 1.89% higher at the end of trading with Enphase Energy soaring 13.41% and leading the charts.

The euro was 0.75% higher compared to the dollar, going for 1.12335 at 3:59 pm ET.
