Europe opens mostly higher ahead of ECB remarks

Major stock markets in Europe opened mostly higher on Thursday ahead of the latest bulletin the European Central Bank (ECB) will release later in the day. Earlier, Airbus SE, Commerzbank, and Nestle all registered annual rises in their fourth-quarter revenue. Meanwhile, the United States accused Moscow of not honoring its promise about withdrawing some of its troops from the border with the crisis-stricken nation and of instead sending more battalions to that site.

The DAX increased by 0.28% at the opening as Continental AG surged by 4.82%. The CAC 40 advanced by 0.49%, with Kering SA rocketing by 5.66%. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 decreased by 0.09% as Evraz PLC went down by 3.21%.

The euro lost 0.08% to the dollar at 8:58 am ET, selling for $1.13732. At the same minute, the pound sterling stood flat against the US currency to change hands for $1.35946.
