Tesla asks China to cut Covid-19 truck restrictions - report

Saturday, 09. April 2022 06:20

Tesla, Inc. and Covestro AG among other foreign companies are petitioning the Chinese government to permit truck deliveries to operate between the country's financial hub of Shanghai and other regions, due to the firm's supply chains being impacted by the imposed Covid-19 restrictions, the South China Morning Post reported on Saturday.

According to the SCMP report, though certain companies have been given permission to operate with their employees residing at the production sites, the firms still face significant challenges with truck driver shortages and inter-provincial transport.

Yesterday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that the company could opt for mining and refining the needed lithium resources due to the "insane" jump in lithium prices in recent weeks.
