Apple Inc. informed its workers that the company is increasing its worker pay budget, the move coming amid growing inflation and labor market threats, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the American tech giant will be upping its starting pay for US workers to $22 an hour or possibly higher, a 45% jump compared to 2018.

“Supporting and retaining the best team members in the world enables us to deliver the best, most innovative, products and services for our customers (...) This year as part of our annual performance review process, we’re increasing our overall compensation budget,” an Apple representative stated.
