Nord Stream turbine still in Germany - Siemens Energy

Monday, 08. August 2022 11:03

Siemens Energy AG CEO Christian Bruch said on Monday that the Nord Stream gas pipeline turbine has not yet left Germany and that discussions on its delivery to Russia are ongoing. Gas flow from the pipeline connecting Russia and Germany has been reduced as the turbine was sent for repairs. Russia insisted on receiving documents proving the turbine is not subjected to Western sanctions, while the European Union stated the sanctions currently do not affect the gas sector.

Bruch added that Siemens Energy is also prepared to continue servicing Nord Stream and stressed that maintenance is separate from the company's decision to withdraw from Russia. Siemens Energy suspended its operations after Russia's invasion of Ukraine and plans to pull out of the country by the end of the fiscal year.
