NLRB accuses Starbucks of punishing unionized workers

The United States National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) filed a complaint alleging Starbucks Corp. withheld salaries and benefits from employees who have joined a labor union. According to a report by the Washington Post, the NLRB wants the company to pay the workers back and interim CEO Howard Schultz to "read a statement to workers about their union rights."

According to Starbucks Workers United, over 200 stores have unionized, including over 10,600 supporters. Earlier this week, the organization accused Starbucks of closing stores as a retaliatory measure against the employees attempting to unionize at those locations.
