Netflix expects success of ad-supported tier - report

Netflix Inc. expects the number of viewers on its tier that will feature advertisements to reach 40 million globally by the third quarter of 2023, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Wednesday.

Citing a document the company sent to its ad buyers, the WSJ said that Netflix sees the number of users of its new tier will reach 4.4 million by the end of this year, 1.1 million of those in the United States. The estimate Netflix shared with its buyers included market analyses for the countries such as the US, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, and Canada.

Netflix partnered with Microsoft Corporation on creating offerings for potential clients. The tier is expected to be launched in November.
