US closes higher as Musk, Twitter seem to reach deal | ![]() |

Major stock markets in the United States closed higher on Tuesday after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) published the filing Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk submitted to it on his acquisition of Twitter Inc. The earlier reports the deal would actually come to fruition prompted the rise in shares of many technological companies, such as Twitter itself, Illumina Inc., PayPal Holdings Inc., Pinduoduo Inc., Salesforce Inc., and The Walt Disney Company, among others. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 2.80% or 826 points higher as the Boeing Corporation jumped by 5.92%. The Nasdaq 100 advanced by 3.14% or 352 points, with Illumina Inc. surging by 9.52%. The S&P 500 increased by 3.06% or 112 points as Twitter Inc. skyrocketed by 22.24%. The euro rose by 1.66% against the dollar to sell for $0.99886 at 4:00 pm ET. |
