CDC advisers say COVID jabs should be given on routine

Thursday, 20. October 2022 23:48

Independent vaccine advisers at the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended on Thursday by consensus that COVID-19 vaccines offered to children and adults should be added to regular immunization schedules.

The recommendation won't lead to a countrywide vaccine mandate, the CDC explained, since that decision will still be left to local jurisdictions. The FDA has previously approved two coronavirus vaccines for use in nearly all populations - Moderna's jab as well as the vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.

All approved COVID-19 shots are currently available for free in the US, however, the Biden administration is considering shifting their costs to the private healthcare market in early 2023, per Politico's report, which noted that vaccines included in routine immunization schedules are generally covered by most healthcare plans.
