US opens higher as attention turns to Fed speeches

Major stock indexes in the United States started the Tuesday session off with gains, as investors anticipated the speeches of several Federal Reserve officials, which are expected to take place later during the day. Additionally, traders will also be paying attention to the release of the central bank's minutes, scheduled for Wednesday.

Meanwhile, quarterly earnings continued to pour in, with more lined up for release after the closing bell.

The Dow Jones added 0.62% or 210 points at the opening bell, with Walgreens Boots Alliance growing 2.23% at 9:32 am ET. The S&P 500 rose 0.53% at 9:30 am ET, as Best Buy surged 8.09%. The Nasdaq 100 increased 0.35% at the open, as Analog Devices jumped 3.51% at 9:31 am ET.

The euro traded 0.20% higher against the dollar at 9:30 am ET, selling for 1.02622.
